Bow Thrusters Bow Thrusters

Marin applications operate in harsh and extreme conditions, with everchanging weather, salt water and heavy strains. Sunfabs motors areused in a variety of these applications.

Bow thrusters make docking easier, since they allow the vessel to turn to port or starboard without using the main propulsion mechanism which requires some forward motion for turning. A bow thruster is a transversal propulsion device built into or mounted to the bow or stern of a vessel to make it more manoeuvrable. With its cartridge flange the Sunfab SCM M2 motor fits perfectly into the extremely compact thruster constructions.

Another application is for thrusters on ROVs (Remote Operated Vehicle) systems which is used for underwater recovery, dredging and many more operations. In these harsh subsea conditions, the Sunfab SAM DIN motor with its corrosion free light metal-housing is a perfect match.

Sunfabs hydraulic motors are also suitable for applications with high angular accelerations due to its high rotary stiffness. An example of this is heavy-duty boat winches, some used for trawling others for anchoring, loading and unloading goods on boats.

High-performance motors for demanding applications
Sunfab’s hydraulic motors are available in SAE, ISO and DIN-standard as well as with cartridge flange. Displacements range from 10 cm³ to 130 cm³ with a large number of choices regarding shafts, mounting flanges and connections. Sunfab’s motors are known for being able to handle high speeds and high working pressures, up to 400 bar (5800 psi), and power outputs of up to 285 kW.
